We started Hood River Skateboarding while working with Hood River Valley Parks & Rec in the summer of 2023 and are happy to act as an outside contractor to offer more coaching and community connections moving into the summer of 2024.
From our perspective, a skateboard is a rather unassuming tool that can teach us about coordination, self-respect, our individual fight or flight responses, managing fear, working with expectations, how to visualize a positive outcome, and how to cheer for others - as one should cheer for oneself.
A skateboard is also a simple vehicle for having fun, making new friends, moving through space at an accelerated speed, momentary violations of gravity, dropping into the unknown, and enjoying your day. With everything we do, whether it’s a camp, lesson, contest, workshop or simple interaction— we’re focused on getting just a bit better everyday, as we keep moving forward together.
We’re actively looking for an indoor space around 4000 - 8000 square feet to move some of our existing ramps into and build out a skatepark, ideally before the winter of 24/25. If you happen to know of an applicable space please reach out!

Skateboarding teaches us to push ourselves, get up after we fall, and keep moving forward.
We work with Columbia River Gorge youth through these three pillars of intent:
Thankfully, it doesn’t matter what differences there are between any of us, or our belief systems. We can all learn these values and apply them to life…
or skateboarding.
